With 7 brothers, 6 sisters, 2 world wars and emigration, the founding Jacuzzi® family spent their lifetime exploring new ideas and experimenting with product designs to start a business.

The seven Jacuzzi brothers immigrated from Italy to California. The brothers built an enclosed-cabin monoplane and made great strides in aviation. In the 1920s their engineering skills and interest in hydraulics and fLuids’ thermodynamics took them from aerospace to agriculture. Combining hydraulic insight, the Jacuzzi® family subsequently made significant advances in the agricultural pump industry.

In 1943 Kenneth Jacuzzi developed rheumatic fever with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. Recognizing that monthly hydrotherapy sessions at the hospital eased his son’s symptoms, led Candido Jacuzzi, the youngest of the 7 brothers, to develop a new hydrotherapy product so that Kenneth had more regular treatment at home. As a result of this, he developed a small niche business. The family sold their J-300® portable pump to hospitals and schools. The pump was then designed together with the bathroom and the new private jet technology took the idea of the pump to a new level. The 50% air and 50% water mixture passing through these private jets provided an experience that had never been done before.

This innovative spirit was captured by a third-generation family member, Roy Jacuzzi®, and in 1970 Roy Jacuzzi made larger units with filtration and heating, and that is how the first hot tub was created.

Today, technological development in hydrotherapy and jets continue to develop while there are new opportunities to further enhance the experience of using Jacuzzi® baths and spa tubs. Jacuzzi® has become the world’s most recognized and largest selling brand of hot tubs and has 250 worldwide patents for advancements in pump systems, jet technology and product design.
