In short

How we work

Custom cabinets for Washington, DC as we build them: German cabinetry built to order to your room's measurements, designed at our Alexandria showroom straight down I-395 from the District and installed by our own team, with completed DC kitchens in Northwest and on Euclid Street on the projects page.

The answer

Do you make custom kitchen cabinets for homes in Washington, DC?

Yes. Aksesuar Design designs custom German cabinetry for Washington, DC homes at its Alexandria showroom, straight down I-395 from the District, builds it to order in Germany to the room's measurements and installs it with its own team. Completed DC kitchens in 2024 and 2025 include Manhattan in Chalet Oak around an island in Northwest and Artline on Euclid Street, each on the projects page with its video.

Before you start

Do you work in Washington, DC?

Yes. From the showroom, off I-395 at Edsall Road, the District is straight up I-395 and across the 14th Street Bridge, or up the George Washington Parkway.

Before you start

Who pulls the permit?

The DC Department of Buildings issues the permit when walls, plumbing or electrical work change; a condominium adds the building's own rules on work hours and deliveries.

Before you start

Do I have to come to Alexandria?

For the consultation and the design, yes: the full-size displays and the material wall are there, and the finishes are decided in front of them. Measuring, delivery and installation happen at your home.

Before you start

What is particular to homes in Washington, DC?

Rowhouse kitchens at the back of the house, often narrow and opened to the dining room, and condominium kitchens that have to be delivered through a building. Our completed DC kitchens were small kitchens, with an island where the room allowed it.

How the project runs

01Consultation

We review your room, your storage, your architecture and your budget at the Alexandria showroom, in a private design appointment, complimentary, with no time limit, and agree what the cabinetry has to do.

How the project runs

023D Cabinet Design

Layout, elevations, proportions and finishes come back as photorealistic 3D, so you approve the cabinetry on screen before anything is committed.

How the project runs

03Specification and Quote

Every carcase, front, countertop, handle and internal system is itemized, so you can see exactly what you are paying for and adjust before release.

How the project runs

04Built to Order in Germany

The approved specification goes into production in Germany, made to your dimensions, with a delivery date you can plan the rest of the project around.

How the project runs

05Measurement and Fit

The same team that designed the cabinetry checks the site and installs it, so nothing is lost in a handoff between the drawing and the tools.

How the project runs

Timeline for a complete kitchen

From the day you sign, most kitchens take about five months: 2 to 4 weeks to settle the last details, then 16 weeks for production in Germany, shipping, installation and the tile work.

For cabinetry on its own, production and delivery typically run a few months from the point the design is approved and released. You receive a schedule once the design is final, and we plan the rest of the project around that date.

The cost

How much do custom kitchen cabinets cost in Washington, DC?

Cabinetry alone starts at $15,000 for a small kitchen, $35,000 for a medium kitchen and $55,000 for a large one. These figures are for custom cabinetry only. The final price depends on kitchen size, cabinet configuration, materials, internal storage and selected details. Countertops, appliances, construction and installation are priced separately unless included in the proposal.

What moves the number

The size of the kitchen

The starting tiers are $15,000 for a small kitchen, $35,000 for a medium kitchen and $55,000 for a large one. The number of carcases is the first thing that moves the price.

What moves the number

Fronts

Soft-matt lacquer, solid and veneered real wood, metal-look and mirror-glass fronts sit at different points in the range, and every one is on the showroom floor to compare.

What moves the number

Interiors

Inner drawers, pull-outs, dividers and pantry systems are itemized one by one, so you can see what each adds.

What moves the number

Hardware

Handles, or handleless fronts with a grip channel, and the hinge and drawer systems behind them.

What moves the number

Installation

Installation by our own team is its own line in the proposal, next to the cabinetry. If you have your own contractor, we can supply the cabinetry alone.

What moves the number

A complete remodel

In 2026 our completed kitchen projects ran from $42,000 to $190,000 and up, with most between $90,000 and $145,000. Those are total installed values, not cabinetry prices.

Where we work

Custom kitchen cabinets for Washington, DC, from our Alexandria showroom

Aksesuar Design works with homeowners across the DMV from one studio and showroom in Alexandria, Virginia. The design happens here, and the same team builds and installs in your home.

Directions to the showroom

Asked often

Can I buy cabinets without a full remodel?

Yes. If you have your own contractor, we design and supply the cabinetry and can install it or hand it over. In-house installation is our first choice, not a requirement.

Asked often

What is the design consultation?

A complimentary session with a designer at the Alexandria showroom. There is no time limit, and you leave with a direction for the kitchen.

Asked often

Which areas do you serve?

We work throughout the DMV: Northern Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Maryland. Our studio in Alexandria sits at the center of the region, so most of it is a short drive away.

Asked often

How far is the studio from where I live?

Most of the DMV is fifteen to sixty minutes from Alexandria. We are glad to share a realistic drive time for your neighborhood when you reach out.

Asked often

Do you handle permits?

Yes. When walls, plumbing or electrical work change, we handle the permits and approvals in Virginia, Maryland and DC as part of the project. Many kitchens need none, and we tell you which yours is.

Asked often

Do you work in McLean, Arlington, Bethesda and Washington, DC?

Yes. Completed kitchens include Chantilly, Arlington and Annandale in Virginia; Bethesda, Potomac and Fort Washington in Maryland; and Washington, DC. See the projects page for each one.
