In short

How we work

European kitchen design as we practice it: frameless cabinetry in flat planes, floor-to-ceiling runs, integrated appliances and real materials, in a German direction or an Italian-inspired one, designed at our Alexandria showroom and built with German cabinetry from Nolte.

The answer

What is European kitchen design?

European kitchen design is planned as architecture rather than furniture: frameless cabinetry in flat planes, floor-to-ceiling runs, integrated appliances, handleless fronts or slim bar handles, and real materials such as oak, walnut, metal, glass and matte lacquer. German kitchens prioritize engineered precision; Italian kitchens lean toward expressive finishes. Aksesuar Design designs in both directions at its Alexandria showroom and builds with German cabinetry from Nolte.

Before you start

Floor-to-ceiling tall units

Runs to the ceiling with a ceiling filler panel in the front finish, so the wall reads as one piece.

Before you start

Handleless fronts

A grip channel in the front, or a slim bar handle, instead of knobs on a frame.

Before you start

Integrated appliances

Placed in the drawing so clearances and extraction are right, behind fronts that match the run.

Before you start

Islands

Storage on both sides, a floor-length front, a lit plinth.

Before you start

Materials

Solid wood, real wood veneer, metal-look and slate-look fronts, glass, soft-matt and anti-fingerprint lacquer, compared at full size.

Before you start

Light

Lit glass cabinets and lit grip rails planned into the cabinetry.

German and Italian

Two European directions, one kitchen

European kitchen design is not one look. These are the two directions we design in, and what each one changes.

Both directions are drawn in 3D at the Alexandria showroom and built with German cabinetry; some of the design directions we work in are Italian inspired, but the cabinetry itself is made in Germany.

German and Italian

Priority

Engineered precision: ergonomic planning, durable carcasses, clean minimal fronts.

Expressive design and avant-garde finishes.

The cabinetry

Made in Germany by Nolte, built to order.

The design direction; the cabinetry is still made in Germany.

Fronts

Handleless flat fronts, grooved real wood, soft-matt lacquer.

Metal-look fronts, glass, bold color, two-tone compositions.

05Build and Installation

The approved specification is ordered. Where walls, plumbing or electrical work change, we handle the permits, and our own team builds and installs the kitchen.

About five months from signing

From the day you sign, most kitchens take about five months: 2 to 4 weeks to settle the last details, then 16 weeks for production in Germany, shipping, installation and the tile work.

Demolition waits until about a month before the cabinetry arrives, so you keep your kitchen while the new one is being built.

The cost

What our completed kitchen projects cost

In 2026 our completed kitchen projects ran from $42,000 to $190,000 and up, with most between $90,000 and $145,000. Those are total installed values, not cabinetry prices; cabinetry alone starts at $15,000 for a small kitchen, $35,000 for a medium kitchen and $55,000 for a large one.

What moves the number

The size of the kitchen

Cabinetry alone starts at $15,000 for a small kitchen, $35,000 for a medium kitchen and $55,000 for a large one. The number of carcases is the first thing that moves the price.

What moves the number

Whether walls and services move

Opening the plan adds structural work, electrical and plumbing relocation and a permit. Keeping the layout removes most of that.

What moves the number

Surfaces

Countertops in Silestone, Dekton or Cambria, Porcelanosa tile, lighting and hardware are selected together with the cabinetry, and each choice is itemized.

What moves the number

Fronts and interiors

Handleless flat fronts, grooved real wood, metal-look and glass fronts, soft-matt lacquer, and the interior storage planned around what you keep in the kitchen.

What moves the number

Appliances

Placed in the drawing so clearances and extraction are right. Priced separately unless the proposal includes them.

What moves the number

Installation

Installation by our own team is its own line in the proposal, next to the cabinetry and the surfaces.

Directions to the showroom

Asked often

Do you specialize in European cabinets?

Yes. Our kitchen cabinetry is German and built to order. Design directions can be Italian-inspired, but the cabinetry itself is made in Germany.

Asked often

What is the difference between German and Italian kitchens?

German kitchens prioritize engineered precision: ergonomic planning, durable carcasses and clean, minimal fronts. Italian kitchens lean toward expressive design and avant-garde finishes. We build German kitchens and offer Italian-inspired design directions.

Asked often

Where are your cabinets made?

Our cabinetry is manufactured in Germany and built to order for each project. German production gives you tighter tolerances, better hinge and drawer engineering, and finishes that hold their color and texture through daily use. Some of the design directions we work in are Italian inspired, but the cabinetry itself is made in Germany.

Asked often

What is the design consultation?

A complimentary session with a designer at the Alexandria showroom. There is no time limit, and you leave with a direction for the kitchen.

Asked often

Can I see and compare the actual cabinets before I order?

Yes, and we strongly recommend it. Our Alexandria showroom holds full-size cabinet displays, so you can open drawers, test soft-close hardware, compare matte lacquer against real wood grain and metal, and see how finishes read under real light. Photos flatten the differences that matter most.
