In short

How we work

Kitchen design in Alexandria happens at our showroom, 5700 General Washington Drive off I-395 at Edsall Road: full-size German kitchens on the floor, a material wall of countertops and tile, a complimentary consultation with no time limit, and photorealistic 3D of your own kitchen before anything is ordered, by the team that then builds and installs it.

The answer

Where do you design kitchens in Alexandria?

At the Aksesuar Design showroom, 5700 General Washington Drive, off I-395 at Edsall Road in Alexandria, Virginia, with full-size German kitchens on the floor, a material wall of countertops and tile, and designers who draw your kitchen in photorealistic 3D. The consultation is complimentary and has no time limit; the same team then builds the cabinetry to order in Germany and installs it in your home. Hours are Monday to Friday 10 to 6, Saturday 10 to 4, Sunday by appointment.

Before you start

Do you work in Alexandria?

Yes. The showroom is off I-395 at Edsall Road, on the Fairfax County side of Alexandria: Duke Street runs east to Old Town, Del Ray and Rosemont, and Van Dorn Street south to Kingstowne and Franconia.

Before you start

Who pulls the permit?

Alexandria is two jurisdictions. Inside the City of Alexandria (Old Town, Del Ray, Rosemont, Seminary Hill) the City's Department of Code Administration issues the permit; in the Fairfax County part (Kingstowne, Franconia, Mount Vernon, Lincolnia, where the showroom is) it is Fairfax County Land Development Services. We file with whichever one your house is in.

Before you start

Do I have to come to Alexandria?

For the consultation and the design, yes: the full-size displays and the material wall are there, and the finishes are decided in front of them. Measuring, delivery and installation happen at your home.

Before you start

What is particular to homes in Alexandria?

Old Town and Del Ray rowhouses and bungalows with narrow galley kitchens, mid-century colonials and split-levels in Seminary Hill and the county neighborhoods, and condominiums along the Potomac: three different kitchens, each measured and drawn to its house.

About five months from signing

From the day you sign, most kitchens take about five months: 2 to 4 weeks to settle the last details, then 16 weeks for production in Germany, shipping, installation and the tile work.

Demolition waits until about a month before the cabinetry arrives, so you keep your kitchen while the new one is being built.

The cost

How much does a kitchen remodel cost in Alexandria?

In 2026 our completed kitchen projects ran from $42,000 to $190,000 and up, with most between $90,000 and $145,000. Those are total installed values, not cabinetry prices. The same itemized proposal applies in Alexandria, Virginia: cabinetry, surfaces, appliances, construction and installation, each its own line.

What moves the number

The size of the kitchen

Cabinetry alone starts at $15,000 for a small kitchen, $35,000 for a medium kitchen and $55,000 for a large one. The number of carcases is the first thing that moves the price.

What moves the number

Whether walls and services move

Opening the plan adds structural work, electrical and plumbing relocation and a permit. Keeping the layout removes most of that.

What moves the number

Surfaces

Countertops in Silestone, Dekton or Cambria, Porcelanosa tile, lighting and hardware are selected together with the cabinetry, and each choice is itemized.

What moves the number

Fronts and interiors

Handleless flat fronts, grooved real wood, metal-look and glass fronts, soft-matt lacquer, and the interior storage planned around what you keep in the kitchen.

What moves the number

Appliances

Placed in the drawing so clearances and extraction are right. Priced separately unless the proposal includes them.

What moves the number

Installation

Installation by our own team is its own line in the proposal, next to the cabinetry and the surfaces.

Directions to the showroom

Asked often

What should I expect on a first visit?

A well-run kitchen design showroom visit is more than a walk-through, it's the beginning of your design process. At Aksesuar Design, your first visit typically includes a conversation about your project scope and budget, a guided tour of our live displays, and hands-on time with materials, finishes, and hardware from our European brand partners. Come with photos of your current space if you have them; it helps us point you toward the right direction faster.

Asked often

Do I need an appointment?

The showroom is open Monday to Friday 10 to 6 and Saturday 10 to 4, and Sundays by appointment. Book ahead to reserve time with a designer.

Asked often

What is the design consultation?

A complimentary session with a designer at the Alexandria showroom. There is no time limit, and you leave with a direction for the kitchen.

Asked often

Do you handle permits?

Yes. When walls, plumbing or electrical work change, we handle the permits and approvals in Virginia, Maryland and DC as part of the project. Many kitchens need none, and we tell you which yours is.

Do you work in McLean, Arlington, Bethesda and Washington, DC?

Yes. Completed kitchens include Chantilly, Arlington and Annandale in Virginia; Bethesda, Potomac and Fort Washington in Maryland; and Washington, DC. See the projects page for each one.
