2027 Kitchen Cabinet Trends: Warm Oak, Pistachio and Cream
What German cabinetry looks like for 2027, from real oak veneer to a new pistachio green, and how to plan it into a kitchen here

German kitchen cabinets for 2027 are moving in three directions at once: warm oak in cognac, cream and chocolate tones, a soft pistachio green, and planning details that let cabinetry run from the floor to the ceiling with no visible gap. The clearest look at it so far is the 2027 range from Nolte Küchen, the German manufacturer whose kitchens we design and install from our Alexandria showroom. This guide covers what changed, which finishes are real wood and which only look like it, and how to use the new colors in a kitchen here.
If you would rather see it first, every new finish and all five kitchens are on our 2027 collection page. This article is about what it means for your plan.
What changed in German cabinetry for 2027?

Nolte introduced its 2027 range in September 2026: eight new finishes across six cabinet series, built around four colors. Cognac, cream, chocolate and pistachio. Here is how they land on actual cabinet fronts:
- Primo, a new series in real oak veneer, in Oak Crema and Oak Chocolate.
- Manhattan in Oak Cognac, a golden-brown wood look.
- Stone in Sandstone Cream, a soft stone look.
- Pistachio in three series at once: Velluto, Focus and Porto. Porto also adds Magnolia, a soft off-white.
What I find most useful is that the new finishes were shown in five complete kitchens rather than as loose samples, so you can see how each one is meant to be combined: oak with cream stone, dark oak with greige, pistachio beside oak. Nolte's own overview is on its 2027 page. It is written for kitchen dealers, so expect some trade language.
Why is warm oak back, and which oak is real wood?
In this range oak is not an accent. Three of the four colors are oak tones, and that raises the question I would ask first when comparing samples: is it real wood?
Primo is genuine oak veneer on a 3/4 in core, finished in matte lacquer. Oak Crema is light and creamy, and its grain stays visible even across a wall of tall cabinets. Oak Chocolate is a deep brown with a fine grain that keeps a long run from looking flat. Manhattan Oak Cognac is a wood look: a melamine surface made to read as oak, and Nolte places it in its entry price group. Sandstone Cream on the Stone fronts is a stone look in the same way.
Both kinds have a place, and they can sit in the same kitchen. Veneer earns its cost where hands and eyes land, an island or the tall wall you see from the dining table. A wood look makes sense on long runs where the budget matters more. If the darker oak appeals to you, the Primo Oak Chocolate kitchen shows it at full scale with greige fronts and a marble-look countertop, and Nolte's Primo page has the technical details.

Warm wood against calm solid fronts is not new to us. Our Manhattan kitchen in Volcanic Oak in Chantilly uses the same series that gains Oak Cognac this year, with wood-tone units set against white cabinetry.
What does pistachio look like in a kitchen?

Nolte's own line for it is “Not mint. Not sage. Pistachio.” It is a soft green with a matte surface, and it comes on three different fronts:
- Velluto, a smooth matte lacquer front with an anti-fingerprint surface. It can also be planned without handles.
- Focus, a slim framed front in a soft-matte finish, a modern take on a country kitchen.
- Porto, a classic framed front, also soft-matte.
Focus and Porto are framed fronts, so they take knobs or handles, and the new manganese bronze knob suits this look well. The Focus page shows the framed version up close.
Green works best with one calm partner. In every 2027 kitchen that uses it, pistachio sits next to oak, either Manhattan Oak Cognac or open oak shelving, and nothing else competes with it. The other thing I tell people about any color: look at a sample in your own kitchen, in the morning and in the evening, before you commit to a wall of it.
How do the new cabinets reach the ceiling and the floor?
The quieter change in 2027 is in the planning details, and it is the one that makes European cabinetry look built in rather than installed.

- Ceiling filler panels in the same finish as the doors, up to 6 ft 7 in wide, close the strip between tall or wall cabinets and the ceiling.
- Floor-length island doors stop about 5/8 in above the floor, so the toe kick nearly disappears and the island reads as one solid block.
- One-piece backsplash panels in wood, stone and marble looks now run up to 16 ft 9 in without a joint.
These are decisions for the drawing stage, not for installation day. Ceiling height, the exact island footprint and where a backsplash run starts and stops all have to be settled before anything is ordered, which is why we plan them in the same design-build process as the layout itself.
What else is new: countertops, storage and hardware?

- Twelve new quartz countertops, polished or satin, cut for undermount sinks and flush cooktops.
- A base cabinet with a lift-up table that brings a toaster or mixer to counter height, rated for 35 lb, so it does not have to live on the counter.
- Solid oak X-shaped bottle racks for open base and wall shelves.
- New knobs and handles in a stainless look, black, bronze and manganese bronze, some with a knurled grip.
- Brighter under-cabinet lighting: Nolte says about 10% more light on about 30% less power.
One part of the launch stays in Europe for now. Nolte also introduced its own appliances, sinks and faucets, a line it calls made to match. It is built for Nolte's European dealers, and we have not confirmed that it is sold here, so we plan 2027 kitchens around appliances made for American kitchens, as we do today.
On materials, Nolte reports that over 99% of the wood it uses comes from FSC or PEFC certified sources, and that its plants in Löhne and Melle run on 100% renewable electricity.
How do you bring the 2027 look into your own kitchen?

Start with one color story and let it lead. Pick the oak you love first, cream, cognac or chocolate, then decide whether pistachio, greige or a cream stone look is its partner. Two strong colors in one room usually fight; one strong color and one calm one rarely do.
Then decide where real wood earns its place. A common split is veneer on the island or the tall wall and a wood look or a lacquer on the long runs, which is close to how the Evora Lack and Primo kitchen in the range is put together. If you are weighing those choices against a budget, our custom kitchen cabinets page explains what custom means and what cabinetry costs to start.
Finally, settle the built-in details early: ceiling height, island size and backsplash length. They cost nothing to plan and a great deal to change later. When you are ready, book a consultation and bring photos and rough measurements of your room. We confirm the ordering timeline for a specific finish when we plan your kitchen.
