What custom actually means

What Custom Means for a Bathroom Vanity

A custom vanity starts with your room, not with a product page. Four things make the difference.

Built to your wall, not to a stock width

We measure the wall, the plumbing, the door swing and the window before anything is chosen. Every unit is then built to order to your dimensions, so the vanity meets the walls and sits under the mirror cleanly, with nothing covered by a filler panel.

Storage planned around what you keep

Drawer heights and internal organizers follow what you actually store, from hair tools to towels, so the countertop stays clear.

Plumbing, mirror and lighting resolved in the drawing

Drain and supply positions, mirror height, sconces and outlets are set in the design, not improvised on installation day. That matters most in older DC and Old Town homes, where walls are rarely square.

Front, countertop and sink specified together

The front, the countertop and the sink are chosen as one composition and shown together before you approve.

Vanity types

Floating, Freestanding, Single and Double Vanities

The room decides the type. Most projects start with these four decisions.

Floating vanity

Wall mounted, with the floor visible underneath. It makes a small bathroom read larger, and it needs blocking in the wall, which we plan before installation.

Freestanding vanity

Stands on the floor like a piece of furniture. The right choice when the plumbing comes up through the floor.

Single vanity

One sink, with more countertop and drawer space. Common in powder rooms and guest bathrooms.

Double vanity

Two sinks for a shared primary bathroom. Plumbing clearances and drawer positions are set in the drawing so both sides work.

Vanity Countertops and Sinks

The countertop is specified with the vanity, in Silestone or Dekton, and the sink and faucet positions are set in the drawing. Some vanities come with the sink; where they do not, the sink and faucet are itemized in your quote. Faucets and fittings are from Giulini G Rubinetteria of Italy. You can compare surfaces next to the fronts in the showroom.

See it before you decide

Compare Vanities in Person in Alexandria

Photographs flatten what decides a vanity: how a soft matte front holds light, how a drawer closes, how the countertop edge meets the sink. German bathroom furniture is on display at our Alexandria showroom, so you can compare fronts and surfaces side by side.

Approve it on screen first

Your Vanity in 3D Before Anything Is Ordered

We measure first, then design in 3D, so you approve the vanity in your own room before anything is ordered.

  • A 3D view of your bathroom, not a generic template
  • Elevations that show mirror height, lighting and clearances
  • Front, countertop and sink shown together
  • Revisions until the design is right

From first measurement to final fit

Custom Vanity Design and Ordering Process

Five stages, each with something to approve before the next begins.

01
Consultation

A complimentary design consultation at the Alexandria showroom, usually two to three hours. We review your bathroom, your storage and your budget, and agree what the vanity has to do.

02
Measurement

We measure the wall, the plumbing and the clearances on site.

03
3D Design

Layout, proportions and finishes come back in 3D, so you approve the vanity on screen.

04
Specification and Quote

Units, front, countertop, sink and hardware are itemized, so you can see what you are paying for.

05
Order and Installation

The approved specification is ordered, and the same team installs it.

Timeline

From the day you sign, most bathrooms take about five months: 2 to 4 weeks to settle the last details, then 16 weeks for production in Germany, shipping, installation and the tile work.

Demolition waits until about a month before the furniture arrives, so you keep your bathroom while the new one is being built.

Complete bathroom projects, as a planning guide

A complete bathroom project includes the design, the custom furniture, the countertop, the tile and fixtures, the construction work and the installation, all carried out by our own team. As a planning guide: a small complete bathroom from $15,000, a typical primary bathroom $36,000 to $58,000, a large suite $76,000 and up. Worked out from our kitchen projects, not counted from finished bathrooms.

These figures are for custom bathroom furniture only. The final price depends on the width and number of units, the front material, the countertop, the sink and faucet, and whether plumbing moves. Tile, fixtures, construction and installation are priced separately unless included in your proposal.

Two ways to work with us

A Vanity on Its Own, or the Whole Bathroom?

Both start with the same design conversation. Most of our clients take the whole bathroom, and that is the service we recommend.

Complete remodel

A full bathroom design and build

Layout, tile, shower and plumbing change with the vanity. One team carries the project from the first plan to installation, and the vanity is designed as part of the room rather than dropped into it.

Vanity-focused project

A new vanity in your existing bathroom

Possible when the layout and the tile stay. We design, supply and install the vanity, the countertop and the sink.

Custom Bathroom Vanity FAQ

What makes a bathroom vanity custom?
A custom vanity is planned for one room. We measure the wall and the plumbing, choose unit widths and heights to fit, plan the storage around what you keep, and specify the front, the countertop and the sink together. You approve it in 3D before anything is ordered.
How much does a custom bathroom vanity cost in Northern Virginia?
As a planning guide, custom bathroom furniture starts around $6,000 for a small bathroom, $14,000 for a medium bathroom and $22,000 for a large one. These are furniture starting points, not the cost of a complete bathroom. Tile, fixtures, construction and installation are quoted separately, so you can see what each part of the project costs.
What sizes can a custom vanity be?
Any size the wall allows. The German furniture is built to order to your dimensions, so the width, height and depth follow your room rather than a catalog increment. Our ready-to-assemble vanities, by contrast, come in standard sizes from 18 to 72 inches.
Can I get a floating or a double vanity?
Yes. Floating and freestanding, single and double sink vanities are all available. A floating vanity needs blocking in the wall, which we plan before installation.
Do you offer solid wood bathroom vanities?
Yes, alongside lacquer and laminate fronts. All are specified for a humid room.
Where are your vanities made?
Our bathroom furniture is German, with countertops in Silestone and Dekton.
Can I see vanities before I order?
Yes. German bathroom furniture is on display at our showroom at 5700 General Washington Dr unit E, Alexandria, VA 22312.
Do I need a full bathroom remodel?
Most of our clients remodel the whole bathroom with us, and that is the service we recommend, because the vanity is designed as part of the room. A vanity on its own is possible when the layout and the tile stay.
Do you install the vanity?
Yes. Design, supply and installation are handled by the same team.
How long does a custom vanity take?
From the day you sign, most bathrooms take about five months: 2 to 4 weeks to settle the last details, then 16 weeks for production in Germany, shipping, installation and the tile work. Demolition waits until about a month before the furniture arrives, so you keep your bathroom while the new one is being built.
What is the design consultation?
A complimentary session with a designer at the Alexandria showroom. There is no fixed end; most run two to three hours, and you leave with a direction for the vanity and a sense of the budget.
Do you also sell ready-to-assemble vanities?
Yes. Our product range includes high-end ready-to-assemble Avaluxury vanities in standard sizes from 18 to 72 inches, for projects that do not need custom furniture.
